1 in 12 Canadians over the age of 20 are diagnosed with cardiovascular disease and 9 out of 10 Canadians have at least one risk factor. Blood clot (thrombosis) events cause approximately 10,000 deaths in Canada each year. Prevention and early detection are key to mitigating the symptoms and severe outcomes associated with disease and are vital to cardiovascular health. Health Today Health is committed to supporting our clients’ cardiovascular health with access to 3 key heart and vascular screening tests to help provide insight to current health and risk of major adverse cardiac events such as heart attack and coagulation or clotting events such as pulmonary embolism.

Health Today Health Cardiovascular Screening
In order to gain comprehensive insight into your cardiovascular health, Health Today offers the following simple blood tests:
- Ceramide: This test quantifies plasma ceramides present in the blood to predict risk of major cardiac events such as heart attack within 1-5 years.
- D-Dimer: This test measures a protein fragment that is present when your body is actively attempting to break down a blood clot. D-Dimer testing is used to detect and monitor clotting conditions and predict increased risk of coagulation events.
- Cholesterol Total: This test measures four types of fat present in blood: total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and triglycerides. High blood cholesterol can indicate increased risk for arterial disease, heart disease, and heart attacks.
